DBS Checks For Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
It is an NHS regulation for all Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council, meaning that they are classed as being in a healthcare profession.
Therefore, they must have an Enhanced DBS check, with a check of both the Adult’s and Children’s Barred List.
DBS Checks For Pharmaceutical Deliver Drivers
Being employed to deliver medication means that there is no requirement for a DBS check. However, if you wanted to, you could request a Basic DBS check, which will show any unspent convictions, cautions, and reprimands the individual has.
DBS Checks For Pharmacy Dispensers
If the individual is supervising someone, they would require the same level of check as the person under their supervision.
However, if they are providing advice for adults and/or children, this occurs more than 3 times in a 30-day period, then they will just be eligible for an Enhanced DBS Check with Children’s Barred list.
DBS Checks For Pharmacy Assistants
Basically, this is the same guidance as the above! If supervising someone, they will require the same level of check.
If providing advice for adults and/or children, this occurs more than 3 times in a 30-day period, then they will just be eligible for an Enhanced DBS Check with Children’s Barred list.
What Does an Enhanced DBS Check Show?
Enhanced DBS checks show a history of all spent and unspent convictions, final warnings and reprimands.
Any information that the local police consider relevant for disclosure is also contained.
If the person receiving the DBS check has any of these, they will show up on the certificate.
An Enhanced DBS Check with Children’s and Adult’s Barred List, will also include the result of a check against the children’s and adults’ barred lists to see if they are banned from working with these groups.
