What Is The Update Service?
The Update Service is an online subscription that allows individuals to keep their Standard or Enhanced DBS certificate up to date, allowing employers to check the status of it online.
Once your DBS is on the Update Service, there is no need to get a new check until there has been a change in the certificate. For example, a new caution, conviction, or reprimand would cause the Update Service to say there has been a change in the certificate’s status.
How Many Days To Put DBS On Update Service?
DBS checks must be put on the Update Service within 30 days of the ‘date of issue’.
After these 30 days, you cannot add the certificate to the Update Service. A new DBS check will have to be carried out if you want to add it to the Update Service.
Where Can I Find The Date of Issue on a DBS Certificate?
If you have received your DBS certificate, the date of issue can be found on the top right of the certificate, as shown below:
